Scientific Director
Dennis W. Matt, PhD, HCLD
Dr. Dennis W. Matt is the Scientific Director and co-founder of the Virginia IVF and Andrology Center. After receiving his BA degree in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University, he earned his MS degree in Zoology from Rutgers University, and his PhD in Anatomy and Zoology from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Rutgers University, respectfully. He then continued his postdoctoral studies at UCLA School of Medicine where he was a member of UCLA's highly successful IVF program. In addition, he conducted extensive grant-supported research on aging and reproduction. Dr. Matt joined the faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. At the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Matt served as the Laboratory Director for the IVF Program as well as the Director of the Andrology/Endocrinology Laboratory and Prenatal Screening Laboratory. After receiving tenure as an Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Matt co-founded the Virginia IVF and Andrology Center with his colleagues, Michael Edelstein, MD, Joseph Gianfortoni, MD, Sanford Rosenberg, MD, Kenneth Steingold, MD, and Geof Tidey, MD. Dr. Matt is board certified as a High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD), and has over 25 years of experience in the Assisted Reproductive Technologies. He has authored numerous manuscripts in the field of reproduction, and has served as a member of several professional societies. Dr. Matt has been a member of the IVF Validation Committee for the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and Center for Disease Control (CDC), and is a Laboratory Inspector for the College of American Pathologist's (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program. Currently, Dr. Matt is also Clinical Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University where he lectures extensively on embryology and the assisted reproductive technologies.

Senior Embryologist
Daniel Graff, BS, TS, ELD
Daniel has been working as a Senior Embryologist in the IVF Laboratory for Virginia IVF and Andrology Center since its inception in 1998. He earned his BS degree in Biology from Old Dominion University and has over 25 years of IVF laboratory experience in embryology and andrology. In 1999 he became Board Certified as a Technical Supervisor in both embryology and andrology from the American Board of Bioanalysis. In 2005, Daniel became certified as an Embryology Laboratory Director through the American Board of Bioanalysis. Daniel's extensive knowledge and experience in the assisted reproductive technologies assures the highest quality of patient care at Virginia IVF and Andrology Center.
Embryologist
Julie Collier, BS
Julie earned her BS degree in Biology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has 10 years of IVF laboratory experience in embryology and andrology. Julie's notable experience in the assisted reproductive technology field makes her an asset to the patient care provided at Virginia IVF and Andrology Center.
